Millennials and ‘any time’ benefits
If you are reading this on your smartphone, you are doing so on technology that barely existed 20 years ago. Millennials – those born from the early 1980s to 2000 – want flexible services and products right now, not tomorrow. As these customers become a larger proportion of the UK workforce, addressing their needs for workplace life cover, critical illness and income protection will be crucial.
Given the speed of technological change, millennials are likely to expect immediate adjustments to any benefits provided by their employers through flex. This includes revising their protection covers as fast as possible, at any time.
Flex benefits and speed of service
Aviva Flex-pertise™ is the market leader in UK Group Protection flexible benefits*. At Aviva we rely on our scale, expertise and customer service infrastructure to deliver flexible benefit solutions. We invest heavily in offering customers bespoke protection solutions in flex, available 24 hours a day via technology platforms with access on any device.
Our current business model allows employees to change benefit selections at each policy anniversary, or at a specific time each year when the whole workforce is invited to make changes. In addition, flexibility is enabled when specific lifestyle changes occur, such as: marriage/ civil partnership; birth/ adoption; divorce; death of a spouse/ partner; and moving home.
But what if scheme members could change their group protection flex benefits as they please? That’s the question we are seeking to answer, as after all, the future belongs to faster service.
About our ‘any time’ benefits pilot study
We’re market pioneers – continually innovating products and services, and embracing digital to better connect with customers. That’s why we are currently piloting a study on ‘any time’ benefits with key employers to see what works and what doesn’t; starting with our award-winning Group Critical Illness, which scooped top slot in the recent COVER Excellence Awards.
If you’d like to suggest a potential employer who might benefit from being part of the pilot, or have any helpful insights, please contact your Aviva Account Manager or Dave Matthews, our Flex Lead.
