Rates of return in illustrations
Every time anyone expresses an interest in our products, we provide both the potential client and you as their adviser with an illustration showing what they might get back. We use the standard industry rates set by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), so your client will find it easy to compare what we offer with the products of other companies.
Over the last year or so, the global economy has experienced a great deal of turmoil. One of the key changes has been the severe reduction in bank interest rates. This means that the returns for certain funds (for example, deposit funds) are likely to be significantly lower than the projected rates in illustrations.
We’re working on a solution
We’re currently looking into ways we can best reflect the recent low rates of return in the illustrations we provide.
However, in the short term, we’re providing you with a leaflet to give to new customers warning them that for certain funds, the projection rates in their illustrations are higher than the returns they are likely to receive in the current economic climate. We’ve also written to customers who invested in one or more of the funds listed below since 1 December 2008, giving a similar message.
